Adventures of a Script Writer

Have killed four people since yesterday. It all began two days ago when I received a parcel and a phone call. The parcel contained a video – the pilot of a soppy, sobby soap. The phone call informed me that I had to make it more suspenseful and romantic. I tried. Added a murder and a couple of love angles, one triangle and duly reported for duty. The producer was appreciative but wanted more. ‘Who else can we kill, who else can we kill?’ he enquired gleefully like a child with a new toy. ‘Okay, okay, let’s put in an aunt and then kill her’. I put a note in the margin – Add Aunt, Kill her. He smiled charmingly, I breathed a sigh of relief – the cheque finally seemed to be in sight.

Let’s kill the sister, he suggested after some rumination. The sister? My beautiful, complex Akku? She was the one who was not so good, who could be trusted to behave unpredictably. Dead people are fairly predictable. I tried to stem the mounting toll. Okay, Okay, we’ll bring her back to life after a couple of episodes. Alright, say I and write in the margin – Kill Akku.
